graduate of UC Hastings College of Law, Patrick brings his experience from a long career in criminal defense and public rights to his practice at M&L, where he focuses on cannabis business regulatory law and criminal defense. Patrick got his start at the California Department of Justice, Attorney General’s Office. He handled numerous appeals, writs and trials in the Criminal Division. Following his success in the Criminal Divison, he move to the Public Rights Division, where he worked as a civil litigator, representing state agencies in trial and appellate courts, and helping to protect the public’s access to the coast and nature trails.
Patrick then moved to the Santa Monica City Attorney’s Office, where he successfully handled cases in state and federal court on a variety of matters, including discrimination, land law, civil rights and the First Amendment. In the Criminal Division, he handled a wide variety of matters, many of which went to jury trial. Patrick’s clients appreciate his passion for the law and his depth of experience and expertise on cannabis business regulatory law.
